Lots of dust flyin' here because the Seattle Times and Seattle PI both initially refused to print the photos of the two men probably doing recon on the ferry. Original story here. The Times gave in to pressure and printed the pictures.
The FBI asked the newspapers for help, as they've requested in many other cases.
The PI remains defiant and delusional.
"We have no confirmation that these men's behavior was anything but innocuous, and to forever taint them by associating them with terrorism under these circumstances is not consistent with our policy," said David McCumber, PI managing editor.
The PI decided their opinion viz civil rights is more important than the lives of its readers. Yet they will reliably post photos of suspects/persons of interest in other investigations. In this case, and others, they decided they know better than you. They decided for you, Seattle.
Shame on them.
And let's not let The Times off the hook entirely. The evidence both papers leave indicting them of blatant hypocrisy is years old and bales high. Fortunately, for now, the trail is just printed pulp, and not dead bodies.
There are men and women out there who mean us harm. In order to maximize the death and destruction, they will be meticulous and careful in their planning, including recon that is as thorough as time will allow.
Great thanks to the locals here who did the right thing and reported what they saw. Thank you.
Gotta run for now. I'll write more later with some thoughts about the ferry and some practical/tactical options if something should look like it's going wrong when you're aboard one.
